Have You Ever Dealt With A House Stalker?
Yesterday, we dealt with a “House Stalker” who saw our listing a week ago and believed the home was still available.
The “House Stalker” called our office a week ago refused to believe the home was rented. She kept insisting the home was still posted on Yahoo.
She drove to the home and began to harass the new tenant.
Over the years,we’ve dealt with “House Stalkers” but none so determined. The house stalker knocked on the door of the tenant and began to demand to see a lease! The tenant contacted me, while I was sitting at a closing. She`s upset and scared out of her mind.The Stalker won`t leave. We immediately tell her to contact the police,and drive to the home to see what the heck is happening.
I arrive to see the Stalker outside the property.
We engage in conversation:
Me: What are you doing here?
Stalker: How dare you rent this home out from under me?!
Me: Who are you? The home is rented, it’s time to move away from the property.
Stalker: I saw the home on Yahoo.com, called your office a week ago, they confirmed it was available.
Me: The home was rented four days ago, the tenant just moved in and you need to leave now. We’ve called the police.
Stalker: We want this home! It’s in my son’s school district! We’re not leaving.
The women in the house is visibly shaken, I head to my car and wait for the police to arrive. The police arrive and explain to the “Stalker” it’s time to vacate the premise. After seeing the police officer the “Stalker” starts realizing that she might be arrested, gets into her car and leaves peacefully.
The police officer is very nice as he starts telling us he’s encountered a few house stalkers during his career. Apparently, there are people who believe they can either knock on a door, walk around a property and cause trouble,thinking there’s nothing wrong with their actions!
Many refuse to believe the truth and find it easier to believe what they see on the NET!
